Hiya my lovelies, how’s it going on this sunny Thursday? For me it’s been kind of busy, but also quite an emotional day. I’ve had to go through all sorts of details about being assaulted and my daughter ending up injured in hospital. But now it’s done, hopefully I won’t have to go through it much more again.
So let’s move on to a happier subject, like the next instalment of my Essence Cosmetics haul. Today we are looking at the eye products. Yes I know what you’re thinking, how much did you get woman?! But honestly, the most expensive of these products is a mascara at £3.30 so a very affordable haul, I promise.
First up we have the Mascara’s, and I have fairly high hopes for them, as I’ve heard such amazing things!
This one I was particularly eager to try, as some say she is said to be a dupe for the Benefit They’re Real mascara. I’m pleased to say that on first impressions, I am really impressed with the Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara. I want to get to know her a bit before I give you my full thoughts. But I have to say, I love a dupe, and she’s already looking good. If she continues to impress me, I’ll have saved myself a nice chunk of change, as she only set me back £3.30.
I’ve found myself using quite allot of waterproof mascara in the past year, as I’ve cried so much! I’ve not particularly heard of this one, but for £2.50 I thought, I’d give the Get Big Lashes Volume Boost a go.
Essence Make Me Brow is a gel with tiny little fibre’s, who takes it’s inspiration from a Benefit brow product. I actually took her for a test run last night, and I have to say I’m pleased with the look I got. I’m pretty sure at £2.50, she’s allot cheaper than her higher end counterpart. Unfortunately she only comes in two colours, Blondy or Browny which is a bit disappointing.
The Essence Kajal Liners are £1.00 each, so your basic budget eyeliner. There are various options, but I thought I’d get them in N’Iced Coffee and Feel The Mari-Time.
This looks ok in the swatch, but honestly, the formula is a bit of a nightmare. As soon as I tried to swatch, the tip of the pencil crumbled and made a mess. It’s a shame as the colour of N Iced Coffee seems nice.
I was really looking forward to The Mari-Time as the colour is the most beautiful aqua/teal, but sadly the crumbling is even worse. You can see the bits stuck in this one better, due to the colour. These are a bit of a miss for me, booooo!
At this point I’d only tried the Kajal liners so was feeling quite disappointed. Were the rest of the Essence liner’s going to be a let down?
As these Extreme Lasting Liners were just £1.00, I was quite worried the formula would be similar to the Kajal ones. But as you can hopefully see from my swatches below, they are creamy, more pigmented and glide across the skin nicely.
First of all I’m loving the name, but that’s not all. This is a pale green with the most beautiful gold shimmer running through. Mermaid For Life is a hit for me.
In my previous experience, black liners with shimmer in haven’t been very successful. Luckily for me, Black Midnight Sky swatches very nicely indeed. Of course the proof is in the pudding, as they say, so I’ll let you know.
I know that Dramatic Mac really rates this one too, so had to give her a try.I Heart Colour Intensifying Eyeshadow Base was only £2.50 so very affordable, and I’m hoping will do the job. I’m always on the look out for a cheaper alternative to the much loved, Urban Decay Primer Potion, so fingers crossed.
The formula is certainly thinner, with a creamy tone. Obviously I won’t be able to tell you any more until I’ve taken her for a spin, but I’ll keep you posted.
So for £1.50 I’m not expecting much from this Colour Correcting Concealer, but I thought I’d give her a chance anyway. You never know, right?
This is quite thin, but even. The colour however is very pale, more of a creamy shade than the usual peachy correctors. I have incredibly dark under eyes, so I’m not really sure this is going to work for me. This only comes in one shade, so again disappointing for deeper skin tones.
So I’m actually quite impressed with Essence as a brand, and really looking forward to giving everything a proper test run. What do you think of my haul? Do you have any of these, or have any recommendations for other Essence products I should try? I know I’m going to enjoy building on my Essence collection! What about you?
Essence products can be purchased at Wilko online here or in store on theUK, and in pharmacy stores in Ireland. They can also be found in Ulta, Walgreens and Target across the pond in the USA.
Well there we have it, all done and that’s all from me for tonight. So I shall be back tomorrow, but for now it’s byeeeeeee from me xx
